There’s never been a better time to live in Yorkshire.

With our home town of Harrogate being voted one of the “Happiest Place in Britain” for many years, it is always a great time to move to Yorkshire. The UK’s largest county features dynamic, diverse and growing cities, beautiful countryside and historic homes, international sporting events, and exceptional schools, restaurants, entertainment and shopping. Now is the perfect time to consider a move to Chameleon and the county of Yorkshire.

Our offices

Chameleon Technology is based in North Yorkshire, the UK and we have an office in Hong Kong. Our head office is in the beautiful spa town of Harrogate, near the North Yorkshire countryside and Yorkshire Dales. We are based in the Hornbeam Park business estate, which has modern facilities and easy access via car, train or bus. Central Harrogate is only moments away and the A1 and M1 provide easy access north and south. There are many picturesque villages and towns nearby, and Leeds and York are also within easy reach.

Harrogate has a wealth of different housing styles including smart flats, luxury apartments, good-sized family homes, new build estates, Georgian terraces and grand homes and mansions. The villages on the outskirts also offer country cottages, barn conversions, listed properties and further new-build estates. With the towns of Ripon and Wetherby and the cities of Leeds and York within commuting distance, the choice of styles is almost limitless.

In addition to hosting the Grand Depart of the 2014 Tour de France and the World Cycling Championships in 2019, there is sport in abundance in Yorkshire, with the chance to follow first class football, cricket and rugby and attend race meets at some of the country’s finest racecourses at York and Wetherby. The surrounding countryside also offers ample opportunities for walking, climbing, cycling, riding or fishing. Seventeen of the country’s 2016 Olympic medallists train and live in Yorkshire.

The county is home to a large proportion of the UK’s top museums, galleries and historic houses. In fact, the North York Moors boasts no fewer than 3,000 listed buildings. More than 70 professional theatre companies are based in Yorkshire, including the West Yorkshire Playhouse in central Leeds. Both the Yorkshire Sculpture Park at West Bretton and The Hepworth gallery in Wakefield are close by, as is the historic town of York. Leeds has a vibrant music scene and a huge variety of venues for bands from small bars and clubs to the First Direct Arena, which hosts major international acts.

Shopping and dining out

Yorkshire offers plenty of cosmopolitan shopping and elegant restaurants. The stylish and recently expanded Victoria Centre in Leeds features John Lewis, Harvey Nichols, and many brands not yet seen outside London. Designer boutiques feature among York’s cobbled streets and Harrogate boasts many antique shops around the Montpellier Quarter. There are also several large shopping centres and designer outlets in the area. Enjoy world-class restaurants in Leeds, Betty’s famous tea shop in Harrogate and good honest Yorkshire pubs throughout the county.

Stray just a few miles from the cosmopolitan urban centres and you’re surrounded by dramatic countryside. North Yorkshire is one of the most rural counties in the country, with its rustic villages and fabulous scenery unaffected by time. And, with two beautiful national parks on the doorstep, the region defines the perfect combination of work-life balance.
