The Property TV stars are touring Britain to help people learn more about smart meters.
While visiting the Trinity Leeds shopping centre, Kirstie and Phil talked to as many people as possible about a small but important step that every household can take towards a cleaner, greener and smarter future.
They demonstrated how smart meters can help households save energy and minimise carbon emissions.
Furthermore, the television duo claimed that smart meters are a great way for households to monitor spending and reduce expenses.
Kirstie Allsopp said: ‘How can you know you are wasting energy if you can’t see it? I believe if we all get smart meters, it will help make our country greener.’
Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer also informed Brits how smart meter could help households save enough energy each year to power their home for a week – the equivalent of watching your favourite property or dancing show on the telly non-stop for 147 days. If every household in Great Britain got a smart meter, we could save enough energy to power every household in Sheffield, Doncaster and Wakefield for a year.
Phil Spencer also said: ‘If every household in Leeds had a smart meter, that would save Leeds alone £5 million a year as a city.’
