Environmental Monitoring Trials – Gateway Connect

Device delivery

Our delivery partner is Royal Mail. They will attempt to deliver your product three times. If you’re not there a third time, your parcel will be kept in the local depot for you to collect. Make sure to check the missed delivery card for more details on how to collect your parcel.

We have worked hard to ensure our packaging is kind to the planet. Everything is made from recycled materials and is fully recyclable.

Activation & installation

Getting started with your Gateway Connect is easy. Simply plug it in! Make sure the Gateway Connect is plugged as centrally in your home as possible to start with, unless you have been directed to place it in a specific room by your Housing Provider. The Gateway Connect will connect to your local cellular (4G) network and then connect automatically to your smart meters. It will then start sending data by itself, you don’t need to do anything else. For more details please check out our Installation guide here.

Hardware queries

We always build our product with the future in mind. Although currently you cannot use this port, in the future the port may be used for adding other environmental sensors, such as CO2 or other.

The three LEDs on the Gateway Connect are there to indicate the status of your Gateway connections, including: power on/off, 4G connection and smart meter connection. Please refer to the LED Guide here.

We’d recommend placing the device in a room that’s a good representation of the temperature of your home – so ideally not on top of a radiator, or on a windowsill, which might affect the temperature readings. In addition, if you are experiencing difficulty connecting your Gateway Connect to your smart meters, we recommend moving it closer to your electricity meter to establish a stable connection.

The device uses approximately 0.5 – 0.9 watts when plugged in continuously. This is equivalent to about 1 cup of coffee per year.
