Chameleon Technology recently contributed to the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) new digital campaign, ‘Electrifying our Future’. Our team members discussed how smart meter data can be the catalyst for change in both homes and businesses, as well as the wider importance of smart meter data as the UK ramps up its Net Zero efforts.
Mike Pyke, Chameleon’s Managing Director, touches on the latter point in his video ‘Maximising Smart Meter Data’.

For example, we can help build a picture of whole-home health with our soon-to-launch Gateway products. By combining humidity readings with temperature sensors, we can calculate the likelihood of damp and mould occurring. We can also help households calculate how thermally efficient their homes are, by comparing internal and external temperatures, combined with heating usage information.
Chameleon’s layer of algorithmic insights can tell you things about a home or business that the facts alone would not convey.
If we don’t seek to utilise smart meter data to its fullest extent, we miss opportunities. “On a national level, we hamper our ambitions to reduce energy consumption as a whole, our reliance on imported gas, and, ultimately, our nation’s energy security,” Mike goes on to say.
