Mike’s appointment was announced following the ESMIG Annual General Assembly in Lisbon on June 21. ESMIG is the European Association representing companies that provide smart energy solutions.
Following his election, Mike Woodhall said “I look forward to continuing the great work by ESMIG members to bring about the benefits of smart meters for all EU consumers. It is important that industry and policy makers work together to ensure that the consumer benefits of the smart, flexible grid are realised across all European member states. ESMIG is the ideal organisation to help to make this happen. I am delighted to be the new Vice President and look forward to working with John Harris, the new President, all members and the secretariat.”
As Vice President, Mike is a key member of the Executive Committee (EC) of ESMIG. The EC consists of the president, vice-president and working group chairs, meets on monthly basis, deals with operational issues and supports the ESMIG secretariat. For two years previously, Mike has been the Chair of the Working Group on Marketing and Events (MEG) at ESMIG.
Also announced at the ESMIG General Assembly, Frances Williamson, Chameleon’s Head of Communications and Industry Engagement, has been elected Chair of the Regulatory and Policy Working Group (RPG). The RPG has an active role in influencing EU regulatory and legislative developments that affect all aspects of smart metering in Europe. Frances brings a wealth of knowledge of EU energy policy and regulation to her ESMIG appointment, gained from her role at Chameleon Technology and previous roles at Energy UK and the Smart DCC.
John Harris, the newly elected President of ESMIG and Head of Regulatory and Governmental Affairs for Landis+Gyr said, “As the new President of the association, I am very grateful to be able to count on Chameleon’s support and engagement. I look forward to having Mike Woodhall by my side as new Vice President and I am relying on Frances Williamson’s leadership in the very important Regulation and Policy Group. Congratulations to both of them!”
